I had been sitting on this chorus for a good 2 years before I settled on the surrounding content. Changing over and over again because nothing ever felt right, but you eventually write enough content where something matches up and just sticks hard. This song is a result of writing probably hundreds of different melodies and verses and one day without purposefully trying to finish the song that's exactly what I did.
This is easily my most intimate song in terms of content and subject matter. There's a few people who know what this is about and I'm glad I wrote it, I've never felt so at peace playing a song and I hope that other people can something similar hidden within.
lyrics
I wasn’t made to feel comfortable
I wish I never knew
What it’s like to be near someone so conscious, so enthused
You lit fuse months before I complained and regressed
Into a state of self-execution where I had sentenced my mind to death
Our voices do increase
And our pain succeeds
In molesting our pasts and innocence
My childhood’s too gone to see
I wish I could legislate the way that I feel
Through taxation spread some wings and keep myself from fear
Being tattered and tethered taught complacency’s worth
In reminding myself not to sing out when my voice hurts
Our voices do increase
And our pain succeeds
In molesting our pasts and innocence
My childhood’s too gone to see
Just how my life has changed
How my lips arrange
An orchestration of mass decay
And charred souls on display
